FORWARD

Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle celebrates its 65th year connecting the community and supporting “Sailing at its best!” Last year the Board of Directors focused on fortifying the foundations of the Club: its finances; management personnel and systems; equipment and our communications with members. We hope to capitalize on those efforts and bring you even better racing, social, learning and cruising opportunities. There are some significant changes to our Racing Programs that answer some of the requests we heard from Club members over the year.

We replaced the OD Spring Weekends with a three-day Sound One-Design Late Days Regatta in June. We replaced the Spring Frostbite Regatta and the OD Fleet Championships with PSSR (Small Boats) and PSSC (Small Boats) respectively making these regattas two-weekend events. This change is designed to help make race management more efficient, attract more sponsorship support and bring all our sailors together twice a year in shared regattas. We also hope to addict more people to the racing scene with a bigger Cruising Class for the Center Sound Series and continued success with our Rookie Rally.

Starting this year, Associate and Senior members will be offered beverage discounts at the bar, reduced rates for participating in our Team Racing Program, access to our e-newsletters and many other benefits. Please encourage your regular crewmates that don’t own their own boat to join CYC as Associate Members. For only $75.00/year, a large majority of the people who enjoy our programs and come to your Clubhouse to enjoy a beer can help make sure we are able to keep the doors open and the marks set.

Finally, consider getting involved with CYC’s Cruising Programs this year. There is a misconception that a set group of “cruising sailors” participate in these events. The fact is that if you join with another boat or two, you will be the ones exploring our beautiful surroundings with your friends. Trips include cruises to Quartermaster Harbor, Poulsbo, and Port Ludlow to name a few. These events offer terrific fleet-building, friend-building and family-building opportunities. Enjoy a pleasure sail, a great meal or two and time to hang out with old and new friends on the beautiful Puget Sound.

Thank you for being an active part of the sailing community and happy sailing.
