FORWARD

For 2007, Corinthian Yacht Club will continue to provide "Racing at it's Best" as it has for the last 62 years. CYC maintains a long tradition of providing outstanding race management and offering more races than any other club in the nation. This year, I hope to implement a motto borrowed from the Snipe fleet, which sums up racing both on and off the water with "Serious Sailing-Serious Fun". CYC has proven we can run "fun" races for both the novice and experienced racer with our popular Friday night Sailfest races in August. Continuing this theme for Windjammer, our 1st race series in February, we will offer a "fun" regatta with lots of fun and traditional place prizes. The cost of the regatta is only $10 a day or $20 for the series. It is also a great opportunity to race short-handed when crew might be hard to locate early in the season. Come out and join the fun throughout the year.

Beginning March 1st, boats will need to be rated under the new PHRF protocol. Check the PHRF NW website at: www.phrf-nw.org for information on filling out forms and sail measuring. It is critical that your largest main, headsail and spinnaker are measured per the instructions provided on the measurement form regardless if they are standard sails for your boat. Watch our website for days the clubhouse is reserved for sail measurement and contact one of the club's handicappers that is listed in the front of this book.

This Racebook contains information pertaining to the Sailing Instructions and Notice of Race for all the events offered by CYC. Race registration can be made online, by phone or by mailing in the registration form in this racebook. CYC members receive substantial discounts over individual events when they register for race packages with the greatest discount applied to packages that contain the most events. Check with your respective fleet for the package that they recommend. Note that there will not be any racing on the Lake or Sound during Whidbey Island Race Week (July 22-27) to free up race staff and encourage skippers and crew to participate in that event.

With the large number of races offered by CYC each year, it is essential that racers support our race staff by volunteering on the race committee. Again this year, the club will work at providing an adequate number of race committee volunteers through the support of each fleet. Expect to be called to serve on the race committee one day this year. I encourage you to support your club by volunteering your time, bringing new people out racing and encouraging them to become members. Crew available listings are posted on our website at: www.cycseattle.org

Best of luck in 2007.
