For 2006, Corinthian Yacht Club will continue to provide "Racing at it's Best" as it has for the last 61 years. The clubhouse has been moved north to a new location, which is closer to much of the sailing activity. In cooperation with the Port of Seattle and Shilshole marina, the clubhouse is located within a shorter walking distance to the boat ramp, dinghy floats and dry storage. A new third hoist, which will be open to the public, will assist in providing additional access to launch boats. Early in 2006, the lower level of the clubhouse will be remodeled. The bathrooms and showers along with the kitchen are scheduled to be renovated. All of these improvements will enhance the sailing experience for both our club members and guests and improve the club's ability to host regattas.
This Racebook contains information pertaining to the Sailing Instructions and Notice of Race for all the events offered by CYC. Race registration can be made online, by phone or by mailing in the registration form in this racebook. CYC members receive substantial discounts over individual events when they register for race packages with the greatest discount applied to packages that contain the most events. Check with your respective fleet for the package that they recommend. In an attempt to increase participation by non-CYC members, some regatta race fees have been reduced.
You will notice a few changes in store for 2006. IRC handicap rating will be offered to all boats with a valid certificate racing in the Center Sound Series. Boats that race under IRC will also be scored PHRF. Prizes will be given to boats under both ratings. IRC prizes will be given out by overall placement within the series. IRC will also be offered at PSSR and PSSC provided that there are enough boats to make up classes with similar ratings. Boats racing under the Portsmouth rating will be promoted to encourage the growth of each fleet.
Racing is made possible through the efforts of its staff and volunteers. Race committee volunteers provide a vital role in the success of our racing program. Again this year, the club will work at providing an adequate number of race committee volunteers through the support of each fleet. Serving on the race committee will give you a whole new perspective on race strategy, which will help you with your own racing. I encourage you to support your club by volunteering your time and bringing new people out racing and encouraging them to become members.
Best of luck in 2005.
