FORWARD

For 2004, Corinthian Yacht Club begins its 59th year of providing excellence in yacht racing for both its members and guests with a comprehensive schedule of events. (CYC offers more than 70 days of weeknight and weekend racing and clinics.) Within this Racebook, you will find information pertaining to the Sailing Instructions and Notice of Race for all the events offered by CYC. By registering for a package race fee, you will receive substantial discounts over individual events with the greatest discount applied to packages that contain the most events. Check with your respective fleet for the package that they recommend.

You will notice a few changes for 2004. The waiver agreement is no longer required. Included is a registration form that can be mailed or delivered to the CYC office. Registration on-line is available as well. To encourage Junior membership, CYC is offering a 50% discount on race fees for qualified Juniors members and Juniors that are considered non-residents. (Check page 6 for details regarding Junior policies.) The first warning and time limit has been changed for some of the major regattas. Please check the Sailing Instructions for times. The starting interval for Wednesday evening racing on the Sound is changing to a THREE-minute sequence. A new regatta has been added to the Puget Sound One-Design race schedule. The "Summer Solstice Regatta" on June 19 and 20 is a multi-fleet dinghy-only regatta designed to provide a venue for local fleets to host their Districts and Regional regattas.

CYC is only able to provide quality racing through the efforts of its staff and through volunteers. Volunteer opportunities exist in race committee support, event organization, and serving on the Club committees and councils. With the number of boats that participate in the evening racing, a skipper and one other crewmember need only volunteer one evening a year on the evening that they do not race to provide sufficient volunteer support for our race committees. You might be surprised at what you can learn through volunteering. Please make a commitment to bring new people out racing and encourage them to become members. Support the Club and your local fleet by participating in as many club event (racing and non-racing) as possible.

Best of Luck for 2004
