For 2003, Corinthian Yacht Club begins its 58th year of providing excellence in yacht racing offering racing venues on both Puget Sound and Lake Washington. CYC is fortunate in having dedicated and professional race committees to insure your racing is both competitive and fun. This racebook is your guide to finding information regarding racing schedules, registration and sailing instructions for all the events offered by CYC. The popular package fee format is again offered to provide a discount over individual events and providing options for fleets and individuals to tailor the program to fit their needs.
You will notice a few changes for 2003. New for this year is a wavier agreement that is attached along with the race registration form. Please send it in along with your registration. Also notice that the CYC guest policy has changed to accommodate racers that have to travel to participate in regattas. Adults who live outside King, Pierce and Snohomish County are eligible to pay the CYC entry fee for the event. Be sure to look over the sailing instructions for changes in registration, posting of class flags and first warning times. Many of the first warning times have been shifted an hour later to allow for winds to build later in the day and hoping that racers will be waiting less time under a postponement flag. Changes in registration and the posting of class flags have been made to aid the office in accommodating late registrations. Minor changes to the sailing instructions have been made to clarify them and make it consistent with the Racing Rules of Sailing. It is your responsibility as a racer to be familiar with the sailing instructions and the regulations governing sailboat safety.
CYC is able to provide quality racing through the efforts of its staff and through the time put in by volunteers. I challenge you to volunteer your time to enhance the programs offered by the club. Volunteer opportunities exist in race committee support, event organization, and serving on the Club committees and councils. You can help the Club grow by encouraging other racers to participate in club events and to become CYC members. Support the Club and your local fleet by participating in as many club events (racing and non-racing) as possible.
Have a great year racing and remember to always have fun while sailing.
