FORWARD

Whether you believe 2000 or 2001 is the start of the new millenium we are well and truly into it now. Having crossed this historic milestone, Corinthian Yacht Club is beginning its 56th year.

Several changes were introduced in last year's Racebook. This year we are continuing the Lake and Sound racing programs with little additional change.

One of last year's innovations was a new "package" race fee structure. The fleets were consulted for input on which races their members would prefer to focus on. Their input was the basis for the packages. All CYC members are encouraged to select the package that most fits their own racing program using the fleet notations as a guideline. Individual races can also be purchased. As with last year, if less than 10 boats are registered by the deadline, CYC reserves the right to cancel the race. When a race is cancelled for lack of registered boats, the club manager will notify the registered boats and, if possible, have the cancellation posted on the web site. Racers who purchase packages will receive a refund at the end of the season for cancelled races.

April 1 of this year ushers in a new set of the Racing Rules of Sailing. Joining US Sailing through CYC or directly will ensure you receive a copy of the new rules. Watch your copy of the Leadline for possible seminars covering the changes incorporated in the new rules.

As it has been for 55 years, CYC is your club. The Officers, Board and employees are here to help make it the best club possible but we need your help. Be sure to take the time to encourage new members to join. (Are your regular crew members CYC members?) Join us in serving your club by volunteering your time. Most of all, participate in as many club events (racing & non-racing) as possible.

Have a terrific racing season in 2001.
